Sidewalk fall results in personal injury claim

In Alabama, property and business owners are legally obligated to provide a safe environment for customers and visitors. Any establishment that offers public access must abide by certain guidelines and laws. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon for maintenance or basic property upkeep to be neglected, which can result in dangerous conditions that are capable of causing personal injury to visitors.

No one expects to fall and be injured when walking on a sidewalk that is supposed to be safe, but this is allegedly what happened to a woman in another state and she filed a lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed against the owners of an apartment complex where the plaintiff lives. According to the lawsuit, the woman was leaving her apartment and encountered water and a buildup of mud and debris on the sidewalk.

The woman claims her shoe got caught in the mud and debris which caused her to lose her balance. She fell and hit the concrete hard, causing her to suffer injuries, the lawsuit alleges. The woman seeks to hold the defendants responsible over claims that they failed to properly maintain the sidewalk. The plaintiff seeks monetary damages and all just relief.

Accidents can happen in the blink of an eye, even when a place is considered safe and secure. In Alabama, when dangerous conditions created due to the negligence of property and/or business owners cause personal injury, legal action can be pursued. By consulting an attorney and filing a claim, victims can obtain rightful compensation to help them get back on their feet.
