Personal injury: Lawsuit filed after alleged fall in a restroom

Visiting stores, restaurants and other public establishments is a normal daily activity in the lives of most Alabama residents. The last thing a person expects is to be seriously injured while visiting these businesses. Wet walkways, poor lighting and objects left on floors are examples of common hazards that can inhibit the safety of the general public. Public places are required by law to be safe and free of hazards, but unfortunately, personal injury happens far too often in these places.

According to a lawsuit filed in another state, a man suffered serious injuries when he fell while visiting a restroom. The man said he was at a racetrack and went to use the restroom. Upon entering the restroom, the man claimed he encountered water on the floor that caused him to slip and fall.

Allegedly, the man suffered painful and disabling injuries to his shoulder, back and elbow. He also alleges that his pain and injuries have prevented him from engaging in normal life activities and have caused him to incur medical expenses. The lawsuit accuses the business owners of negligence by failing to maintain and inspect the facilities and also failing to provide warning of the dangerous condition.

Treatment of injuries from a fall can be costly and put an individual out of work for a significant amount of time. If such an accident is the result of a negligent business or property owner, victims may pursue legal action. Those in Alabama who believe that their personal injury was the fault of a business or property owner may want to consult with an experienced attorney who can assess their case and provide guidance in navigating a successful lawsuit.
