Personal injury: Woman says she was injured while shopping

On Behalf of | Jan 29, 2020 | Personal Injury

Every year, thousands of people in Alabama and across the country suffer injuries as a result of hazards and dangerous conditions in stores, restaurants and other public establishments. These businesses are required by law to provide a safe environment for all customers and lawful visitors. Unfortunately, basic duties such as cleaning and maintenance are often overlooked by employees and owners. This often sets up hazardous conditions capable of causing personal injury to others.

Recently, a woman in another state filed a lawsuit after she allegedly suffered injuries while shopping in a retail store. According to the lawsuit, the woman was shopping for clothing on a rack that was tightly packed with clothes. The woman said she attempted to take a piece of cloth of clothing off of the rack to get a better look, and the article of clothing became entangled in the rack.

Allegedly, this caused her to lose her balance and fall. The woman claims she suffered injuries due to her hard fall. The lawsuit accuses the store owners of negligence in that they packed the clothing rack too tightly, creating a hazard. The plaintiff seeks monetary damages and all just relief.

Customers should not have to fear for their safety when visiting a store or restaurant. In the state of Alabama, those who suffer personal injury in public establishments due to the negligence of property or business owners may want to consult a legal representative. By filing a claim, victims could receive much-needed compensation to replace lost wages and help with medical expenses.
